C5 Forum on Global Customs Compliance to Feature STTAS-Brazil Presenters

Tuesday, May 07, 2013

Detroit, MI — May 8, 2013 The 8th annual C5 Advanced Forum on Global Customs Compliance, the largest event of its kind in Belgium, is set to feature a presentation from Sandler and Travis Trade Advisory Services-Brazil on navigating the complex Brazilian tariff classification and customs valuation regimes. The forum will take place May 22-23 at The Hotel Brussels.

“Participating in the C5 summit is an exciting opportunity to expand STTAS’ footprint across international borders,” said STTAS Brazil Executive Director Cesar Finotti. “It is also evidence that the South American region is considered an important player within the complex environment of international trade.”

Finotti will join Manager of Customs and Trade Advisory Services Fernanda Herrmann for a presentation that will focus on creating an understanding of the multifaceted Brazilian customs system. Topics will include top techniques for managing public documents in the local language, current regional regimes for classification, optimizing tax benefits, understanding the six methods for determining customs valuation, and documents required to avoid a customs value investigation or dispute.

“Brazil is an increasingly attractive market for goods, but getting these goods across the border to your customers is a challenging endeavor because of the complex, bureaucratic and sometimes controversial foreign trade environment,” Finotti said. “Understanding the basic customs and trade regulations, programs and procedures that affect imports into Brazil are essential for ensuring compliance and efficiency in Brazilian operations.”

The two-day C 5 forum will feature top experts in government, executive and legal positions from across the globe who will share tips on how to effectively implement global customs compliance strategies. The forum will focus on educating companies on the complex customs requirements they face when importing goods into Russia and the other members of the Commonwealth of Independent States, China, India, the Middle East, Turkey and Brazil.
