Detroit, MI — June 4, 2013  Sandler and Travis Trade Advisory Services along with Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg, P.A., will be among the presenters and exhibitors at the American Association of Exporters and Importers’ 92nd Annual Conference and Expo, which will be held June 16-18 in Washington, D.C. This event features some of the top experts in the trade and compliance industry and will be held at the Omni Shoreham Hotel.

“AAEI this year has an outstanding program planned for the trade community,” said STTAS Vice President of Strategic Programs Kevin Smith. “They again have demonstrated why they are one of the leading trade associations for international trade professionals.”   AAEI’s Annual Conference and Expo will feature a presentation from STTAS Senior Vice President of Information Technology Rod MacDonald, who will offer his insights on global information technology systems and how organizations can best use them. With over 20 years of customs experience, MacDonald has a strong knowledge of customs process and procedures and a keen understanding of how technologies can be applied to strengthen them.

“Our presentation will feature an in-depth conversation among three customs compliance practitioners from Chrysler, General Electric and Harman International,” MacDonald said. “They will describe their experiences with evaluating, deciding on and implementing global IT systems from real-world, operational perspectives. We expect an interactive, candid and information-rich discussion.”

The AAEI event will feature presentations from industry experts and highlight pending customs issues in Asia, Latin America, Russia and the U.S. Presentations will also feature hot topics in trade, including foreign-trade zones, drawback and the challenges of overseas compliance.

“We are pleased to be able to call on technical experts like Rod MacDonald, a longtime member of STTAS/ST&R, and to enlist experienced speakers to discuss the challenge that companies face on how to get an IT system that works for the trade industry”, said President and CEO of AAEI Marianne Rowden. “I am eager to hear these speakers, so we can determine whether our industry has made progress in marrying the capabilities of the IT world with the needs of the trade industry.”
