What You Need to Know Now About Wood Packing Materials
Webinar: 0.5 CCS Credits
Violations of regulations on the treatment and marking of wood packing materials can result in substantial penalties. For example, a multimillion dollar machine shipped on wood pallets found not to be properly marked or treated will result in a penalty of the full value of the machine. Importers are frequently unaware of the regulatory requirements and may not learn about them until they receive a Department of Agriculture notice of a WPM violation requiring immediate export of the shipment followed by a penalty notice from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
This webinar will review current WPM requirements, how to respond to USDA and CBP notices, and how to mitigate penalties, as well as the precautions importers can take to avoid violations and penalties in the first place.
