Background

Leading international trade, customs, and export law firm Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg, P.A., announced today that Colbert Lam has joined the Hong Kong office of the firm’s Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg Ltd. subsidiary as senior advisor for customs and international trade. In this position he will help companies navigate the complex customs and trade rules in China and other Asia-Pacific markets.

Prior to joining ST&R, Mr. Lam served as partner in the Asia-Pacific customs and trade practice of a major accounting firm for 20 years. In this role he was instrumental in building and training teams in Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong that advised companies on all aspects of strategic planning in China and assisted clients with customs clearance, audits and investigations, and other import and export matters.

Earlier in his career Mr. Lam spent five years with the Canada Customs and Excise Department, specializing in NAFTA enforcement. He also served as a professional accountant and auditor for a Canadian accounting firm, where he gained experience with cross-border transaction planning, particularly transfer pricing and customs valuation.
