CBP Rulings on Classification of Floral Waters, iPod Equipment, Wafer Probe Cards, Drug Intermediate, Media Discs
In the July 7, 2010, Customs Bulletin and Decisions, U.S. Customs and Border Protection proposed to revoke or modify the following classification rulings. Comments are due by Aug. 6.

Product: Distilled rose water and distilled orange blossom water.
Proposed action: Modification of NY I83744.
Current classification: HTSUS 3303.00.1000, floral or flower waters (duty-free).
Proposed classification: HTSUS 3301.90.5000, other aqueous distillates and aqueous solutions of essential oils (duty-free).

Product: iPod® docking stations with speakers.
Proposed action: Revocation of NY L88357 and NY M80063.
Current classification: HTSUS 8522.90.7580, other parts and accessories suitable for use solely or principally with the apparatus of headings 8519 to 8521 (2% duty).
Proposed classification: HTSUS 8518.22.00, multiple loudspeakers mounted in the same enclosure (4.9% duty).

Product: Wafer probe cards, hardware devices used to test the electrical properties of the integrated circuits etched on a semiconductor wafer.
Proposed action: Revocation of NY K89734 and NY K82192.
Current classification: 8536.90.8085, other electrical apparatus for switching or protecting electrical circuits (2.7% duty).
Proposed classification: HTSUS 8536.90.40, wafer probers (duty-free).

Product: 6-Bromo-1-hexanol, a halogenated derivative of saturated acyclic monohydric alcohol indicated for use as a pharmaceutical intermediate.
Proposed action: Revocation of NY J84387.
Current classification: HTSUS 2905.19.0050, other saturated monohydric alcohol (3.7% duty).
Proposed classification: HTSUS 2905.59.10, HTSUS, other derivatives of monohydric alcohols (5.5% duty).

Also in the July 7, 2010, Customs Bulletin and Decisions, CBP revoked or modified the following classification rulings, effective Sept. 7.

Product: Media optical discs containing proprietary software that can only be used with certain game consoles and not with personal computers or other gaming machines.
Action: Revocation of NY M86614.
New ruling: HQ H083275.
New classification: HTSUS 8523.40.40, proprietary format recorded discs (duty-free).
