Since the enactment of the U.S. Customs Modernization Act in 1993, U.S. importers have been tasked with developing a system of
internal controls and procedures for monitoring their import operations.
Following suit, the Canadian customs authorities have recently begun imposing similar requirements on Canadian importers.
STTAS draws upon the best practices of similarly situated importers to assist each client with developing and implementing
compliance processes and procedures that reflect the level of reasonable care required by law.
Specific compliance-oriented strategies include the creation of recordkeeping guidelines, written policies and procedures,
and self-audit protocols.
Our team of former customs auditors is available to test a company’s readiness for a U.S. of Canadian customs compliance audit
or for participation in U.S. or Canadian customs’ self-audit programs by conducting a self-assessment utilizing the same
methodology employed by the government.
