Rules of Origin Determinations & Country of Origin Marking

Country of origin determinations can affect the duty rate, preference program eligibility, admissibility, quota and marking requirements applicable to a particular product. Country of origin is a legal determination and the rules and laws dictating the proper origin designation for a particular item can be found in several sources, including customs regulations and laws codifying international treaties.

ST&R attorneys are familiar with the laws governing rules of origin and marking. Our experience in this complex area of customs law includes evaluating products, production processes and sourcing patterns to assist our clients in making proper origin determinations and in meeting all product marking requirements, including those enforced by the Federal Trade Commission.
