Internal Review & Audits
Government agencies responsible for administering and enforcing export laws and regulations expect companies to adopt an internal review program that regularly assesses risks and verifies compliance. Such internal reviews are considered to be cornerstones of any effective export compliance program. Our internal audit services can effectively assess companies’ current resources and reporting structure, operational and communication flows, existing internal controls, and documentary and transactional compliance. Our reviews are designed to provide companies with a clear picture of their current compliance levels and areas where new or revised measures may need to be implemented to eliminate any potential compliance gaps. Our experienced attorneys and professionals will identify specific areas of concern, provide detailed recommendations for process improvements, and assist clients in taking the necessary corrective and remedial actions where warranted.
ST&R and STTAS also perform technology/technical data reviews to assist companies in identifying any EAR deemed export or ITAR technical data transfer risks. As part of these reviews, we work with companies to identify controlled information and/or software received, developed or utilized by the company, as well as design and implement the necessary physical and IT security controls to prevent unauthorized access by non-US persons. We also work with clients in drafting formal TCPs that comport with EAR requirements, as well as ITAR TCPs and Technology Transfer Control Plans (TTCPs).
