JO BRONSON HARRIS is Vice President, Customs and International Trade, for Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg, P.A., resident in the Miami office. She is nationally known as a premier authority and lecturer with extensive experience and knowledge in the classification and appraisement of imported wearing apparel and textiles.
Ms. Harris focuses on issues relating to compliance with government rules and regulations as they pertain to the textile and apparel import industry, particularly with respect to eligibility for preference programs such as NAFTA, CBTPA, AGOA, ATPDEA and DR-CAFTA. She consults with U.S. and foreign companies to develop international policies and procedures designed to prevent illegal transshipment, create customized recordkeeping systems to comply with U.S. rules of origin, and implement systems to demonstrate informed compliance and reasonable care in the administration of import transactions. She also advises on complex tariff classifications and origin determinations as well as marking, labeling and consumer product safety issues.
Ms. Harris holds a B.A. from Knoxville College and conducted graduate work at the University of Tennessee. She is a past member of Women in International Trade and the American Association of University Women. She earned numerous performance awards for her work with the U.S. Customs Service.
