Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg Trade Report

Windshield Wipers. The International Trade Commission has narrowed the scope of patent infringement investigations 337-TA-928 and -937 of windshield wipers and components thereof by granting an unopposed motion by complainants Valeo North America Inc. and Delmex de Juarez S. de R.L. de C.V. to terminate these investigations with respect to certain asserted patent claims. The products at issue are automotive windshield wipers that allegedly use the patented technology for detachably coupling a wiper blade to a driven wiper arm. The complainants are seeking a limited exclusion order and a cease and desist order.

Protective Cases. The ITC has terminated without the imposition of import restrictions patent infringement investigation 337-TA-955 of protective cases for electronic devices and components thereof based on a joint motion by complainant Otter Products LLC and the remaining respondent to terminate the investigation based on the withdrawal of the complaint. The products that were at issue in this investigation are typically used for consumer devices such as smartphones, tablets and notebook computers.
