The Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Marketing Service is accepting comments through May 16 on a proposed rule that would amend the Beef Promotion and Research Order to increase assessment levels for imported veal and veal products based on revised determinations of live animal equivalencies. This rule would also update and expand the Harmonized Tariff Schedule numbers and categories that identify imported veal and veal products subject to assessment to conform with recent updates in the numbers and categories used by CBP. Specifically, this rule would specify that imported veal classified under the following HTSUS numbers is subject to an assessment of $0.016936 per kilogram: 0201.20.5010, 0201.20.5020, 0201.30.5010, 0201.30.5020, 0202.30.5010 and 0202.30.5020.
