Canada Amends Sealing Requirements for Conveyances and Containers

The Canada Border Services Agency has announced that as of April 24 the sealing of conveyances and containers is only required in the following specific circumstances.

- the carrier must meet sealing requirements as a participant in the CBSA’s trusted trader programs

- cargo that is prohibited, controlled or regulated by any act of Parliament

- in-transit movements to the point of final export

- movement of conveyances and containers from the first point of arrival to a CBSA examination location

The CBSA adds that bonded carriers will be allowed to move unsealed cargo between inland sufferance warehouses.
