The Bureau of Industry and Security has issued an order imposing a $16,000 civil penalty on a Dutch company to settle charges that it reexported 33 long tons of ethyl mercaptan from the Netherlands to Syria without the required U.S. government authorization. If the company fails to pay this penalty in a full and timely manner, BIS may deny its export privileges for one year.
