Rail Transportation Security Information Collections Under Review

The Transportation Security Administration is accepting through Sept. 17 comments on an information collection that includes the following with respect to rail transportation security.

- the submission of contact information for rail security coordinators and alternate rail security coordinators from freight railroad carriers; shippers and receivers of certain hazardous materials; passenger railroad carriers, including each carrier operating light rail or heavy rail transit service on track that is part of the general railroad system of transportation; and rail transit systems

- reports by such entities of significant security concerns, including security incidents, suspicious activity and any threat information

- documentation by freight railroad carriers and affected shippers and receivers of hazardous materials of the transfer of custody of certain hazardous materials and the provision of location and shipping information for certain rail cars
