Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg Trade Report

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has issued a final rule amending its regulations on the packaging and transportation of radioactive material. These amendments conform NRC regulations to revisions to the International Atomic Energy Agency regulations for the international transportation of radioactive material and maintain consistency with Department of Transportation regulations. In addition, the amendments re-establish restrictions on materials that qualify for the fissile material exemption, clarify requirements, update administrative procedures and make editorial changes. The final rule will apply from July 13.
