DOT Seeks Input on Port Performance Freight Statistics

The Department of Transportation’s Port Performance Freight Statistics Working Group will meet Nov. 18 in Washington, D.C., to discuss its draft recommendations on the following topics. Those wishing to attend this meeting should notify DOT no later than Nov. 14.

- generally accepted industry standard for port data collection and reporting

- standards for collecting data and reporting nationally consistent port performance measures

- statistics measuring U.S. port capacity and throughput

- process to collect timely and consistent data, including identifying safeguards to protect proprietary information

DOT is also accepting comments through Oct. 20 on the working group’s draft work plan, which identifies the schedule, agenda items, and anticipated follow-up actions for each of the working group’s four meetings. The working group is due to submit its final recommendations by Dec. 4.
