Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg Trade Report

The Environmental Protection Agency has issued a final rule that, effective Jan. 1, 2016, authorizes uses of methyl bromide that qualify for the critical use exemption and specifies the amount of methyl bromide that may be imported or produced for those uses for the 2016 control period. The critical use exemption permits the import and production of methyl bromide for uses that do not have technically and economically feasible alternatives. The critical uses for 2016 include selected pre-plant uses involving strawberry fruit as well as selected post-harvest uses for dry cured pork products.
