Food Labeling Issues to be Topic of Sept. 23 FSIS/FDA Meeting

The Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service and the Food and Drug Administration are sponsoring a public meeting Sept. 23 in Washington, D.C., to provide information and receive public comments on agenda items and draft United States positions to be discussed at the 42nd session of the Codex Committee on Food Labeling, which will take place in Santiago, Chile, Oct. 21-24. The following items on the agenda for the CCFL session will be discussed during the public meeting: organic aquaculture, general standard for the labeling of prepackaged foods to address the issue of date marking, and other business and future work.
