The Justice Department’s Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has announced the availability of a new ATF Form 3311.4 to aid licensed firearms manufacturers and importers who apply for marking variances. ATF states that when properly completed this new form will reduce processing time because it specifically requests information required to process a marking variance, thus eliminating delays caused when a request omits needed information.

ATF Form 3311.4 is available online, can be submitted electronically (ATF’s preferred method) and accepts an electronic signature where available. Otherwise, the form should be printed, signed by both parties, scanned and emailed to ATF or faxed to (202) 648-9601. Submissions should be made approximately 90 days prior to the intended manufacture.
