Export Committees on Regulations, Emerging Technology to Meet

Regulations and Procedures. The Bureau of Industry and Security’s Regulations and Procedures Technical Advisory Committee will hold a partially open meeting Dec. 8 in Washington, D.C. This committee advises BIS on implementation of the Export Administration Regulations and provides for continuing review to update the EAR as needed.

The agenda for the open session includes updates on regulations and the Automated Export System, working group reports, and a discussion on implementation of the Wassenaar Arrangement 2013 plenary agreements on intrusion and surveillance items. This session will be accessible via teleconference to 25 participants on a first come, first served basis, and requests to join the conference are due by Dec. 1. In addition, a limited number of seats will be available at the public session, but reservations are not accepted.

Emerging Technology and Research. The BIS Emerging Technology and Research Advisory Committee will hold a partially open meeting Dec. 10 in Washington, D.C. This committee advises BIS on emerging technology and research activities, including those related to deemed exports.

The agenda for the open session includes new Export Control Reform Initiative activities, export control issues involving academic and scientific institutions, and emerging “dual-use-potential” technologies. This session will be accessible via teleconference to 25 participants on a first come, first served basis, and requests to join the conference are due by Dec. 3. In addition, a limited number of seats will be available at the public session, but reservations are not accepted.
