Export Committees on Information Systems, Materials, Materials Processing to Meet

The Bureau of Industry and Security has announced the following partially open meetings to be held at Commerce Department headquarters in Washington, D.C. The open sessions of each meeting will be accessible via teleconference to 20 participants on a first come, first served basis, and a limited number of seats will be available at each open session as well.

- The Information Systems Technical Advisory Committee, which advises BIS on technical questions that affect the level of export controls applicable to information systems equipment and technology, will meet July 31 and Aug. 1. The open session of this meeting will include working group reports and an industry presentation on acoustic modems. Requests to participate in the teleconference are due no later than July 24.

- The Materials Processing Equipment Technical Advisory Committee, which advises BIS on technical questions that affect the level of export controls applicable to materials processing equipment and related technology, will meet Aug. 20. The open session will include a discussion on previous and upcoming Wassenaar Arrangement meetings and a report on proposed and recently issued changes to the Export Administration Regulations. Requests to participate in the teleconference are due no later than Aug. 13.

- The Materials Technical Advisory Committee, which advises BIS on technical questions that affect the level of export controls applicable to materials and related technology, will meet Aug. 8. The open session will include an export control reform update, a presentation entitled “Beyond Compliance: Nonproliferation and the Private Sector,” a report from the Composite Working Group, a report from the Biological and Pump/Valves Working Group, and feedback on the Update Conference to be held July 23-25 in Washington, D.C. Requests to participate in the teleconference are due no later than Aug. 1.
