The State Department’s Directorate of Defense Trade Controls has announced that it will now review applications for licenses to export or temporarily import defense articles and defense services to or from Sri Lanka and Cote d’Ivoire under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations on a case-by-case basis. Licensing restrictions for Sri Lanka were dropped in the most recent federal appropriations legislation, and the United Nations Security Council sanctions regime against Cote d’Ivoire has been terminated. DDTC plans to publish Federal Register notices amending the ITAR to reflect these changes in the near future.
