Export Administration and Regulation Advisory Committees to Meet

PECSEA. The President's Export Council Subcommittee on Export Administration will hold a partially open meeting Sept. 14 in Washington, D.C. The PECSEA provides advice on matters pertinent to those portions of the Export Administration Act that deal with policies of encouraging trade with all countries with which the U.S. has diplomatic or trading relations and of controlling trade for national security and foreign policy reasons.

The agenda for the open session of the upcoming meeting includes an update on the Export Control Reform Initiative, a presentation by the Office of Foreign Assets Control, a discussion on self-jurisdiction and self-classification, and a discussion on updates to the SNAP-R manual. This session will be accessible via teleconference to 20 participants on a first come, first served basis, and requests to join the conference are due by Sept. 8.

RPTAC. The Bureau of Industry and Security’s Regulations and Procedures Technical Advisory Committee will hold a partially open meeting Sept. 15 in Washington, D.C. The RPTAC advises BIS on implementation of the Export Administration Regulations and provides for continuing review to update the EAR as needed.

The agenda for the open session of the upcoming meeting includes a proposal to reinstitute license exception LVS for exports of items controlled by ECCNs 3A001.b.2.x and 3A001.b.3.x and updates on export enforcement, export regulations and the Automated Export System. This session will be accessible via teleconference to 25 participants on a first come, first serve basis, and requests to join the conference are due by Sept. 8.
