U.S. Moves to Meet APEC Commitment to Lower Tariffs on Environmental Goods

To comply with a commitment by Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation member countries to reduce applied tariff rates on 54 environmental goods to five percent or less by the end of 2015, President Obama has issued a proclamation lowering tariffs on the following three products to five percent, effective with respect to goods entered or withdrawn from warehouse for consumption on or after Dec. 31.

- HTSUS 4418.72.95, other assembled flooring panels (previously 8 percent)

- HTSUS 8404.20.00, condensers for steam or other vapor power units (previously 5.6 percent)

- HTSUS 8406.90.20, 8406.90.30, 8406.90.40 and 8406.90.45, rotors, blades and other parts of steam turbines (previously 6.7 percent)
