Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg Trade Report

The Department of Energy has reopened through Nov. 23 the period for public comments on a proposal to amend the energy conservation standards for refrigerated bottled or canned beverage vending machines. If adopted, these standards would apply to all covered products manufactured in or imported into the U.S. on or after the date that is three years after the publication of a final rule.

The DOE has tentatively concluded that the proposed standards represent the maximum improvement in energy efficiency that is technologically feasible and economically justified and would save a significant amount of energy. In addition, equipment achieving the proposed standards is already commercially available for all equipment classes covered by the proposal.
