President Names Former Software Group Exec as Deputy USTR, Adds CEO to Export Council
President Obama announced Feb. 26 his intent to nominate Robert W. Holleyman II as deputy U.S. trade representative. Holleyman served 23 years as president and CEO of the Business Software Alliance after stints as senior counsel for the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation and legislative director to Sen. Russell B. Long. He is currently CEO of Cloud4Growth, a cloud technology development company he founded in 2013.
Former Deputy USTR Demetrios Marantis left the agency last spring and current deputy USTR Miriam Sapiro stepped down Feb. 28. Holleyman’s nomination fills one of those slots, but it is unclear when a second nominee might be announced.
The president also appointed Deloitte LLP CEO Joe Echevarria as a member of the President’s Export Council. Echevarria has worked for Deloitte since 1978 and during that time has held a wide range of leadership positions, most recently as U.S. managing partner for operations. He also serves on the board of trustees and chairs the University of Miami School of Business’s Board of Overseers.
