State Dept. Committee to Prepare for Session on Carriage of Cargoes and Containers

The State Department’s Shipping Coordinating Committee will conduct an open meeting Aug. 27 in Washington, D.C., to prepare for the first session of the International Maritime Organization's Sub-Committee on Carriage of Cargoes and Containers, which will be held Sept. 8-12. Agenda items to be considered at this meeting amendments to the IMSBC and IMDG codes, consideration of reports of incidents involving dangerous goods or marine pollutants in packaged form on board ships or in port areas, and revised guidelines for the packing of cargo transport units. Those who plan to attend or participate via teleconference should contact the meeting coordinator no later than Aug. 18.
