Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg Trade Report

The International Trade Commission will hold a public hearing June 13 as part of its preparation of a biennial report on the economic impact of the Caribbean Basin Economic Recovery Act, which will cover trade during 2011 and 2012. This report will examine the actual and probable future effects of CBERA on the U.S. economy generally as well as on those specific domestic industries that produce articles that are like, or directly competitive with, articles being imported into the U.S. from CBERA beneficiary countries. It will also assess the economic impact of this program on the economies of beneficiary countries.

Requests to appear at the hearing are due by June 3 and the deadline for filing pre-hearing briefs and statements is June 13. Post-hearing briefs and statements and all other written submissions should be filed no later than June 20. The ITC expects to transmit its report to Congress and the president by Sept. 30.
