Cargo Carriage, Ship Safety to be Among Topics of May 4 Meeting

The State Department’s Shipping Coordinating Committee will conduct an open meeting May 4 in Washington, D.C., to prepare for the 96th session of the International Maritime Organization's Maritime Safety Committee to be held May 11-20. Agenda items to be considered at the May 4 meeting include measures to enhance maritime security, carriage of cargoes and containers, ship design and construction, general cargo ship safety, and piracy and armed robbery against ships.
