Proposal to Allow Beef Imports from Brazilian States Gets More Time for Comments

The Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has reopened through April 22 the period for public comments on a proposed rule that would allow the importation of fresh (chilled or frozen) beef from the Brazilian states of Bahia, Distrito Federal, Espirito Santo, Goias, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, Parana, Rio Grande do Sul, Rio de Janeiro, Rondonia, Sao Paulo, Sergipe and Tocantins. Such imports would be allowed under the same conditions currently applied to Uruguay.
