Air Transport of Dangerous Goods Subject of Oct. 10 Meeting

The Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting Oct. 18 Washington, D.C., to gather information and viewpoints from stakeholders in preparation for the International Civil Aviation Organization's Dangerous Goods Panel’s meeting, which will be held Oct. 28 through Nov. 8 in Montreal. The agenda for the working group meeting is as follows. 

- development of proposals, if necessary, for amendments to Annex 18 – The Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air 
- development of recommendations for amendments to the Technical Instructions for the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air for incorporation in the 2015-2016 edition 
- development of recommendations for amendments to the Supplement to the Technical Instructions for the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air for incorporation in the 2015-2016 edition 
- development of recommendations for amendments to the Emergency Response Guidance for Aircraft Incidents involving Dangerous Goods for incorporation in the 2015-2016 edition 
- resolution, where possible, of the non-recurrent work items identified by the Air Navigation Commission or the panel: provisions for the transport of lithium batteries, dangerous goods incident and accident data collection, dangerous goods requirements in Annex 6 - Operation of Aircraft, development of guidance material on countering the potential use of dangerous goods in an act of unlawful interference, and development of performance standards for air operators and designated postal operators
