The U.S. Trade and Development Agency announced June 5 that it has awarded a $620,000 grant that will support efforts to increase cargo handling capacity at the Chilean port of San Antonio and facilitate rail traffic between that port and the capital city of Santiago. This grant will support a feasibility study that will help analyze the technical and financial aspects of implementing a proposed intermodal corridor between the two locations to improve access to global markets and enable a further increase in cargo throughput necessary to accommodate the country's continued economic expansion.
