The Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has updated the USDA seal and North American Plant Protection Organization logo on the export certificates it issues. For the phytosanitary certificate (PPQ Form 577) and the phytosanitary certificate for reexport (PPQ Form 579), the USDA logo is now in the upper right hand corner and the NAPPO logo is in the center of the additional declaration block. For the processed products certificate (PPQ form 578), the USDA seal is in the lower left quadrant. APHIS notes that paper forms with the new USDA seal and NAPPO logo are effective immediately but that the previous forms with the old seal and logo will remain valid until their supply is exhausted.

APHIS has also made available a one-page reference guide describing how to use the Phytosanitary Certificate Issuance & Tracking System Certificate Viewer, which may assist importing countries in determining the authenticity of an APHIS export certificate.
