TPP Text Now Public; ST&R Webinar Series Announced

Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg Trade Report

A month after negotiations were concluded, the text of the Trans-Pacific Partnership was released to the public Nov. 5. The TPP will not only lower tariffs on thousands of goods traded among a dozen Pacific Rim countries but also address dozens of other issues, from trade facilitation to the digital economy to state-owned enterprises.

The big questions now are what exactly the biggest free trade agreement ever negotiated contains and when its benefits will take effect. Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg is launching a series of webinars to answer these questions, beginning with a 45-minute session on Nov. 12 detailing the process for implementing TPP, from signing through congressional approval to effective dates. Additional webinars (click here to be notified when they are announced) will focus on market access, rules of origin and other critical details for specific industries and sectors. Among the presenters will be ST&R experts who actively participated in virtually all of the TPP negotiating sessions, providing advice to delegations and stakeholders on crafting specific language.

ST&R will also roll out a three-point program to help businesses prepare to take advantage of TPP by determining existing and potential opportunities for duty savings, conducting in-house training and creating a TPP-ready compliance program. More details on this program will be announced in the near future.
