Shipping Coordinating Committee to Address Various Matters at Upcoming Meeting

The State Department’s Shipping Coordinating Committee will conduct an open meeting April 18 at the Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, D.C. to prepare for the one hundred first session of the International Maritime Organization’s Legal Committee, which will be held April 28-May 2 in the United Kingdom. Agenda items will include adoption of the agenda and report on delegation credentials, HNS Protocol 2010, fair treatment of seafarers in the event of a maritime accident, piracy, technical cooperation activities related to maritime legislation, election of officers, and liability and compensation issues connected with transboundary pollution damage from offshore oil exploration and exploitation. Members of the public planning to attend the meeting should contact the meeting coordinator no later than April 11.
