President Nominates Longtime USTR Official to State Dept. Economic Post

President Obama announced Sept. 24 his intent to nominate Apple Inc. vice president of worldwide government affairs Catherine Novelli as under secretary for economic growth, energy and the environment at the State Department. Novelli served in various positions at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative from 1991 to 2005, including eight years as assistant USTR for Europe and the Mediterranean. Earlier in her career she served in the office of the general counsel at the Department of Commerce.
