Morocco FTA Short Supply Requests on Woven and Knit Fabrics

The Committee for the Implementation of Textile Agreements has received a request to modify the U.S.-Morocco Free Trade Agreement’s rules of origin for women’s and girls’ woven garments classified under HTSUS chapter 62 to allow the use of non-U.S. or Moroccan 100 percent woven rayon fabric under HTSUS heading 5408. CITA has also received a request to modify this FTA’s rules of origin for certain women’s and girls’ swimwear classified under HTSUS 6112.41 to allow the use of non-U.S. or Moroccan printed and piece-dyed wrap knit fabrics of polyester or nylon fibers classified under HTSUS 6004.10, which contain between 3 percent and 41 percent elastomeric yarns designed for chlorine resistance. Comments on whether the subject fabrics can be supplied by the domestic industry in commercial quantities in a timely manner may be submitted by Jan. 6, 2016.
