DOT Considers Adding New Motor Carrier to NAFTA Trucking Pilot Program

The Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is requesting through April 21 comments on data and information concerning Importaciones y Distribuciones Latina America Gami SA de CV, a new motor carrier that does not currently have a DOT registration number but has applied to participate in the department’s pilot program to test and demonstrate the ability of Mexico-domiciled motor carriers to operate safely in the U.S. beyond specified border zones. FMCSA notes that this carrier has successfully completed a pre-authorization safety audit, the results of which are available here.
