Former USTR Counsel Named as ITC Commissioner

President Obama announced July 12 his intention to nominate Rhonda Schnare Schmidtlein as a member of the International Trade Commission. Schmidtlein is currently a consultant to the World Bank on projects seeking to strengthen accounting regulation and oversight. She worked within the Office of International Affairs at the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board as director from 2005 to 2011 and special counsel to the chairman from 2003 to 2005. She also served as associate general counsel for the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative from 1999 to 2003 and as an attorney in the Civil Division of the Commercial Litigation Branch at the U.S. Department of Justice from 1993 to 1998.
