Steel Import License Application Under Review

Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg Trade Report

The International Trade Administration is accepting public comments through Jan. 19 on a proposal to extend form ITA-4141P, the application for steel import license. The ITA maintains an import licensing system to collect information that is then aggregated to facilitate the monitoring of certain steel imports, as required by a 2002 presidential proclamation. The ITA notes that while the Census Bureau collects import data and disseminates aggregate information about steel imports, the time required to collect, process and disseminate this information can take up to 90 days after importation, giving interested parties and the public far less time to respond to injurious sales.
