Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg Trade Report

The Foreign-Trade Zones Board has authorized production under zone procedures at the Janssen Ortho LLC facility within subzone 61N in Gurabo, Puerto Rico. This facility is used for the production of various prescription and over-the-counter pharmaceutical products.

The FTZ Board has received from the Lake Charles Harbor and Terminal District, grantee of FTZ 87, a notification of proposed production activity at the LEEVAC Shipyards LLC facilities in Lake Charles and Jennings, La., which are used for the construction and repair of oceangoing vessels. The production activity under FTZ procedures would be subject to the standard shipyard restriction applicable to foreign-origin steel mill products (e.g., angles, pipe, plate), which requires that LEEVAC must pay all applicable duties on such items. Comments on this notification are due no later than March 24.
