FTZ Board Considers Requests from Liquor, Forklift Facilities, Approves Two Applications

The Foreign-Trade Zones Board has received from Custom Quality Services a notification of proposed production activity for its facility within FTZ 29 in Louisville, Ky., which is used for the warehousing, distribution and kitting of liquor and glassware. Comments are due no later than Oct. 26.

The FTZ Board has received from Mitsubishi Caterpillar Forklift America Inc., an operator of FTZ 84, a notification of proposed production activity for its facility in Houston, Texas. MCFA already has authority to produce forklift trucks (class I through class V) powered by gasoline, propane or electric motors within site 27 of FTZ 84, and the current request would add certain foreign-status components to the scope of authority. Comments are due no later than Oct. 26.

The FTZ Board has authorized production under zone procedures at the Hitachi Automotive Systems Americas Inc. facility within subzone 29F in Harrodsburg, Ky. HIAMS-HK already had authority to produce various automotive components within subzone 29F, including electric-hybrid drive systems, mass air sensors, throttle bodies and chambers, starter motors, motor/generator units, alternators, distributors, static converters, inverter modules, rotors/stators, batteries, ignition coils, sensors and modules, fuel injectors, emissions control equipment, valves, pumps, and electronic control units for engines and transmissions, and the FTZ Board has now added a new finished product (automotive battery management systems) and foreign components to the scope of authority.

The FTZ Board has authorized production under zone procedures at the Robertet Inc. facility within FTZ 44 in Mount Olive, N.J., which is used for the blending of fragrance ingredients into fragrance compounds for consumer goods such as perfumes, cosmetics, toiletries, soaps and household products.
