Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg Trade Report

The Foreign-Trade Zones Board has received from BMW Manufacturing Co. LLC, operator of subzone 38A, a notification of proposed production activity for its facility in Spartanburg, S.C. BMWMC already has authority to produce passenger sedans, coupes, sport utility vehicles and related bodies at this facility, and the current request would add new finished products (stamped body parts, lithium-ion batteries) and foreign-status materials and components to the scope of authority. Inputs classified under HTSUS subheading 5911.90 would be admitted under privileged foreign status, thereby precluding inverted tariff benefits on such items. Comments on this notification are due no later than Jan. 4, 2016.
