FTZ Board Considers Expanded New Jersey Zone, Production Activity at PR Facility

The Foreign-Trade Zones Board has received from The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, grantee of FTZ 49, a request for authority to reorganize and expand this zone under the alternative site framework. The proposed service area would be Hudson County, N.J., as well as those parts of Bergen, Essex, Passaic, Union, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris and Somerset counties in New Jersey that lie within the Port Authority’s jurisdiction known as the Port District. Comments on this application are due no later than Oct. 17.

The FTZ Board has received from the Puerto Rico Industrial Development Company, grantee of FTZ 7, a notification of proposed production activity at the Neolpharma Inc. facility in Caguas, Puerto Rico, which is used for the production of pharmaceutical products. A separate application for subzone designation at this facility has been submitted and is being processed. Comments on this notification are due no later than Sept. 29.
