Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg Trade Report

The Federal Maritime Commission has received a petition from COSCO Container Lines Europe GmbH, an ocean common carrier wholly owned by controlled carrier COSCO Container Lines Co. Ltd., for an exemption that would allow it to lawfully reduce its tariff rates, charges, classifications, rules or regulations effective upon publication. The petitioner intends to begin operating in the Europe-U.S. trade on or about June 1 and states that an exemption would allow it to compete with other carriers in providing tariff rate reductions in a timely and competitive manner. Interested parties are requested to submit views or arguments in reply to the petition no later than May 29.
