New Product Safety Commission Chairman Named
President Obama announced March 27 his intent to nominate Elliot F. Kaye as chairman of the Consumer Product Safety Commission . Kaye is currently the executive director of the CPSC and has worked at the agency since 2010 in positions including deputy chief of staff and senior counsel to the chairman. Earlier in his career he was an attorney in private practice and a judicial clerk in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York. He has also held various positions, including chief of staff, for several members of Congress.
The CPSC currently has three active commissioners: Bob Adler, who is serving as acting chairman but whose term expires this October; Marietta Robinson, whose terms runs through October 2017; and Ann Marie Buerkle, whose term runs through October 2018. Joseph P. Mohorovic was nominated as a commissioner last November but has not yet been confirmed by the Senate.
