Defense Exporters Get Another Option for Electronic Payment of Registration Fees

The State Department has issued a final rule that, effective Dec. 6, allows persons in the business of manufacturing, exporting and/or brokering defense articles or defense services to use the Federal Reserve Wire Network (FedWire) for the electronic submission of registration fees. A July 2011 final rule required such fees to be paid electronically and identified the Automated Clearing House as the means for such payments. However, “a considerable number of intended registrants” have experienced difficulties in originating ACH transactions, prompting State to allow payments via FedWire as well.
