Foreign Regulatory Changes Could Affect Exports of Gas Cylinders, Foods, Vessels, Filters, Orthoses, Hand Sanitizer, Vehicles, Steel Products

According to the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the World Trade Organization has been notified of regulatory changes that may affect exports of specific products to the following countries. For more information on how these restrictions may affect your business, contact ST&R.

• Belize – national standards for inspection, testing and requalification of portable cylinders for liquefied petroleum gases; marking and labeling of gas cylinders; filling, handling, storage, transportation and location of portable cylinders for LPG; and LPG (comments due by Dec. 19)

• Canada – proposed order adding toxic substances to Schedule 1 of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act (comments due by Dec. 14)

• Costa Rica – addendum to technical regulation on labeling of pre-packaged foods

• Costa Rica – technical regulation on condensed milk (comments due by Dec. 14)

• Costa Rica – regulation on long-grain pounded rice

• European Union – draft amended directive on inland waterway vessels (comments due by Dec. 28)

• Kenya – performance requirements for air filters and oil filters (comments due by Dec. 28)

• Kenya – requirements for biomechanical principles, material, shape, dimensions, workmanship, finish and performance of orthoses (comments due by Dec. 28)

• Kenya – requirements and methods of test for synthetic detergent pastes for hand and machine wash and alcohol-based instant hand sanitizers (comments due by Dec. 28)

• Oman – final draft technical regulations on multi-purpose vehicles, trucks, buses and trailers and new tires for such vehicles (comments due by Dec. 31)

• Oman – final draft technical regulation on brake linings friction materials (comments due by Dec. 31)

• Paraguay – draft resolution creating register of importers and establishing a prior automatic import license for steel products (comments due by Dec. 14)
