June 05, 2009 | Reduction in Initiation Fees Enhances Arbitration as Alternative to Litigation
| Businesses hesitant about the cost of litigation to resolve disputes got good news this week when the American Arbitration Association announced that it is lowering certain fees associated with the use of arbitration as an alternative dispute resolution mechanism. Under its Flexible Fee Schedule, AAA is offering parties to arbitration cases the opportunity to initiate cases at a reduced initial filing fee. In addition, when parties mutually select and appoint their own arbitrator(s) to a case, AAA’s Proceed Fee will be reduced by 50%.
Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg’s litigation group is experienced in representing parties in all types of arbitration. In addition, two members of the firm, Edward M. Joffe in Miami and Peggy Louie Chaplin in Washington, D.C., are members of several AAA panels and have extensive experience as arbitrators.
